healed wounds
piercing language
A piercing that is ready for jewellery change
Once your piercing is no longer swollen, red, flaky, or painful, this usually means that the wound has healed and is ready for a jewellery change
Everyone’s body reacts to the piercing process differently
Always ensure that you sanitise your hands, the new jewellery and your wound during the process
If you are uncertain please visit your piercer for jewellery change overs

A t labret charm with a super thin post that is slightly bend and inserted into a thread-less labret backing
The bent post pushing into the thread-less labret backing creates tension, therefore, the larger the bend in the post, the tighter the fit
This style of jewellery is incredibly secure
Screw threads at the end of the post, allowing the charm to screw onto the post
This type of jewellery is recommended for healed piercings
Externally Threaded
piercing language
Both labrets and barbells can be externally threaded
Screw threads are attached to the back of the charm. Similar to thread-less jewellery; the post has no screw threads
This type of jewellery is recommended for both new and healed piercings
Both labrets and barbells can be internally threaded
Internally threaded

Barbells & Labrets allow for optimal healing to preserve the health of your piercing by having fixed length posts - unlike butterfly earrings
The most common length is 0.6mm for lobe and 0.8mm for cartilage piercings.
However, it would be best to consider your anatomy as everyone's ears are different.
Both labrets and barbells can be internally threaded

PVD Coating is a vacuum coating process whereby, titanium nitride is used to provide an extremely durable and hardwearing coating
PVD coated jewellery is superior to gold plated jewellery as gold plated jewellery utilises a base layer, usually silver, nickel, copper, or brass, which are all non-biocompatible materials
PVD (physical vapor deposition) coating
materials
PVD is incredibly durable, resistant to corrosion and sweat, will not tarnish and is able to be made up to 10 times thicker than traditional gold plating. As the finished is bonded to the base metal it will not wear off
Plating is often used to cover a cheaper and non-bio-compatible metal (Such as .925 sterling silver, copper or brass) with a more expensive Metal (usually 14k gold). However, the layer of plating is usually thin and will wear off when exposed to the elements
Plated jewellery is significantly less durable than PVD-coated jewellery. After continuous use, the plating will wear off and expose the piercing to the base material which is usually brass.
